Comparison
Aveela compared with Notion
Notion is a flexible workspace: documents, databases, wikis and projects in one tool. That breadth is why many agencies start their client documentation there. Aveela covers only a slice of it - but precisely the slice where the documentation reaches the client as a portal of its own.

What it is built for
Aveela
One purpose: writing documentation and publishing it as a portal per client.
Notion
An all-purpose workspace: notes, documents, databases, wikis, tasks and projects in one place.
Authoring
Aveela
AI drafts from screenshots, capture via the browser extension, an AI writing assistant for selected text, translation drafts and screenshot annotation in the editor.
Notion
A block editor with databases and templates. Notion AI is included on "Free" and "Plus" as a limited trial and only fully on "Business" and "Enterprise"; custom agents consume credits.
Delivering it to your clients
Aveela
The space is the client portal: logo and colours per portal, access public, via a share link, or behind a login with invitations. White-label under your own subdomain on the Agency plan.
Notion
Pages can be published to the web. The result stays a Notion page; how much you can customise it and whether you can use your own domain depends on the plan.
Billing
Aveela
Two plans, limited by spaces, pages, storage and AI generations. Your readers never take up a paid seat.
Notion
Per member: "Free", "Plus", "Business" and "Enterprise". Guests are free of charge according to Notion, but have limited access.
Hosting and data protection
Aveela
Hosted exclusively on servers in Germany, a data processing agreement as standard, AI features through a European provider. Your content is never used to train models.
Notion
Notion names AWS and Cloudflare as its infrastructure, a privacy programme mapped to the GDPR, and a data processing addendum. The pages linked below do not name a selectable EU data residency - ask about it if the region matters to you.
Where Notion is the better choice
- You need a flexible workspace with databases, tasks and projects. Aveela has none of that - and does not intend to.
- Your team already works in Notion, and the documentation should sit where everything else sits.
- You want to start for free: Notion has a free plan, Aveela does not once the 14-day trial ends.
In short
Notion is the broader tool, Aveela the specialised one. If your documentation stays internal, there is little reason not to use Notion. If every client should get their own self-contained portal in your visual identity - and you need a clear EU answer on hosting - that is the case Aveela is built for.
